Report by Police Scotland.

There was submitted a report by the Chief Superintendent, Police Scotland, relative to service performance and activities in the Renfrewshire area for the reporting period 1 April to 31 October 2024. The report summarised the key performance indicators and provided statistics and updates in terms of Renfrewshire’s Policing Priorities 2023/26 and Police Scotland’s Policing Priorities 2023/26.
It was highlighted that forthcoming initiatives would include sextortion awareness in schools and a targeted social media awareness campaign.
The Chief Superintendent advised that 10 new recruits had recently joined the force and that a further 20 recruits would imminently commence their initial training.
Councillor Leishman requested a working definition and more information on non-crime hate incidents. Police Scotland advised this would be provided to all members of the Sub-committee.
DECIDED: That the contents of the report and verbal updates be noted.

There was submitted a report by the Area Commander, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) relative to SFRS performance and local fire and rescue service plan priorities in the Renfrewshire area during the period 1 October to 31 December 2024.
The report provided updates in relation to Local Fire and Rescue Service Plan Priorities; Renfrewshire activity; accidental dwelling fires and casualties; unintentional injury and harm; deliberate fire setting; non-domestic fire safety and unwanted fire alarm signals.
The Area Commander outlined changes to the Fire Safety Programme.

Local Issues
Verbal update by Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Councillor McMillan raised concerns that areas of Renfrewshire were becoming problematic in terms of drugs and anti-social behaviour. The Chief Superintendent requested that incidents be reported to enable these issues to be addressed and advised that they would liaise with the local problem-solving team, housing officers and other relevant partners.
Councillor M MacLaren expressed safety concerns regarding the number and speed of motorised scooters in the Paisley town centre area. The Chief Superintendent encouraged the reporting of such incidents and advised that officers located in the town centre area would be made aware of this concern.
