Appoint Vice Chair for the Local Partnership

Councillor McNaughtan invited nominations for the post of Depute Chair indicating that H Kay (STAR Project) had indicated informally that she would be willing to be appointed to the position.
There being no further nominations, it was agreed unanimously that H Kay (STAR Project) be appointed as Depute Chair of the Paisley North, West & Central Local Partnership.
DECIDED: That H Kay (STAR Project) be appointed as Depute Chair of the Paisley North, West & Central Local Partnership.
Report by Chief Executive

There was submitted a report by the Chief Executive relative to the 2024/25 budget allocated to this Local Partnership which detailed the distribution of funding.
Concerns were expressed regarding the implications of delays in making payment of the awards made by the Local Partnership at the previous meeting. In addition, it was agreed that the Partnerships Planning & Development Manager (Chief Executive’s) be made aware, as a matter of urgency, of organisations who having been awarded grant funding at the meeting who had not received a formal grant award offer.
DECIDED: That the report be noted.

A presentation was delivered by the Partnerships Planning & Development Manager (Chief Executive’s) relative to identifying common matters that were important to people in the area and setting local priorities for improvement. It was envisaged that, once identified, these local priorities would be used to target resources and improvement actions. The presentation, which included national and local data profiles provided detailed key facts about the population; the religions, languages and races within the community ; access, health and crime deprivation; children and education; population demographics, health resources; local assets, etc. specific to this Local Partnership area. Based on the information provided, members worked in groups to identify and set local priorities for the area.
After discussion, the following key themes and priorities were identified (in no order of importance):
Supporting Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing
Developing activity across the whole community to raise levels of positive mental health and addressing the causes of poor mental health that can lead to suicide.
Developing Local Responses to The Cost Of Living Crisis
Working with communities to empower them to develop local solutions to the Cost of Living Crisis
Building Cohesive Communities
Finding ways to bring together local people across generations and promote good relations across all races, religions and languages. Develop activity that reflects the diversity of communities in Paisley North, West and Central and is inclusive of all.
Strengthening And Growing Community Organisations
Supporting local community organisations by getting people involved and planning for the next generation of leaders and organisations. Building community ownership of local assets.
Working Together To Address Service Challenges
Public sector working in partnership with the third sector to meet challenges where services are changing or reducing.
The Partnerships Planning & Development Manager (Chief Executive’s) advised that a draft copy of the key themes and local priorities identified would be developed and circulated to members of the Local Partnership.
DECIDED:
(a) That the key themes and local priorities identified for this Local Partnership be approved; and
(b) That a draft copy of the key themes and local priorities be circulated to members of the Local Partnership prior to the next meeting.
