There was submitted a report by the Chief Superintendent, Police Scotland, relative to service performance and activities in the Renfrewshire area for the reporting period 1 April 2023 to 29 February 2024.  The report summarised the key performance indicators and provided statistics and updates in terms of Renfrewshire’s Policing Priorities 2023/26 and Police Scotland’s Policing Priorities 2023/26.

2
There was submitted a report by the Group Manager, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) relative to SFRS performance and local fire and rescue service plan priorities in the Renfrewshire area during period 1 January to 31 March 2024.

The report provided updates in relation to Local Fire and Rescue Service Plan Priorities; Renfrewshire activity; accidental dwelling fires and casualties; unintentional injury and harm; deliberate fire setting; non-domestic fire safety and unwanted fire alarm signals.

In response to a question raised at the last meeting of this Sub-committee held on 12 March 2024 whether there had been an increase in incidents on the A737 road, the Group Manager advised that this did not appear to be the case but that the level of incidents would continue to be monitored.

DECIDED: That the contents of the report and verbal update be noted.
Verbal update by Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
3
The Area Commander, SFRS, advised that a “Future Service” pre consultation was running until 30 June 2024 and that any further consultation arising from that would be detailed in due course.

It was highlighted that the SFRS also carried out enforcement action and fire safety measures in addition to their emergency fire-fighting response.

Deliberate fire setting in the Tannahill area was raised as an issue. The Area Commander, SFRS, discussed the benefits arising from the recent Fire Skills courses undertaken in neighbouring local authorities. It was suggested that the Council's Youth Services consider the establishment of a similar initiative to the Fire Skills course currently operating in the Inverclyde Council area.

DECIDED: That the verbal updates be noted.
